Field Day 2008 Pictures, Comments, and Summary

NØSM’s comments which he posted on the KTVO web site:

Thanks for your coverage. The Field Day exercise calls together a lot of skills under less than ideal conditions but that’s what an emergency does. Though atmospheric conditions were less than ideal, the club managed to make 1137 contacts with other stations in the 24 hour period including several foreign countries. All in all, it was a lot of fun and a good test for each operator.

WA0ITP’s follow up report to KTVO News:

Thank you very much for the fine coverage of our Ham Radio Field Day this past weekend. We appreciate it and had several visitors that were directly attributable to your coverage Saturday night. One father brought his two sons who were very interested and may pursue a license.

I thought I’d tell you how we did. We made 1137 contacts using both morse code and voice. Contacts were made in all states except Nevada, but including Hawaii and Alaska. The total number of contacts was down a little from the last two years due to diminished radio wave propagation conditions.

Again, thank you, we appreciate the coverage.

Terry Fletcher, WA0ITP Pres, Ottumwa Amateur Radio Club
